International PC Consortium (IPCC) Holds Successful 2011 Meeting

We just returned from the Int'l PC Consortium meeting where researchers met to set goals for PC research. We now have a number of opportunities going forward for studies. There are several goals that will happen in the next few months.
(1) We will be developing standardized measurement tools so that we have a way to validate the results of clinical studies as they take place
(2) We will be conducting a survey of both patients and physicians to determine in a more standardized manner the treatment and care that is presently available and the effectiveness (if any) of those treatments. The result of this study will be published "Best Practices" guides for PC. That has been something we've needed and worked towards for several years.
(3) Several studies including a clinical trial were approved and will begin over the next months.
